We know it may seem like a real bummer now, but with a little time, patience, and training, you won't be feeling so bad. Here are a few tried and true tricks to have your boyfriend win over your pup's heart.

Bummer... My Dog Hates My Boyfriend!

Give your partner a chance to feed your pup

As the old saying goes, the way to the heart is through the stomach. This rings especially true for our fur babies. Food is one of the oldest tricks to get on your dog's good list. Give your boyfriend some of your dog's most favorite treats - and have them ready when he comes into your dog's space. Treats upon arriving, treats upon sitting on the sofa, treats upon... Well, you get it - treats are king!

Learn something new together

Bring your boyfriend into your pup's life by including him when it's time for your pup to learn new tricks. Again, have some treats ready, have your boyfriend praise your pup when they ace the trick, and you'll quickly see the bond start to grow!

Do an activity together

What does your pup really enjoy? Chasing the waves on the beach? Long hikes in the woods? An evening stroll in the park? Start incorporating your boyfriend into these activities and your pup will see that he's not all bad! The positive associations will go a long way.

Give your partner some alone time with the pup

Once your pup starts to show neutrality to your boyfriend, it's solo time! Encourage your boyfriend to take your pup for a walk, go for a hike, play fetch or give the pup belly rubs. The 1:1 time will give your boyfriend and the pup a moment to forge their own bond together. Oh, and don't forget the treats!

Don't force it

In the end, it can be just a matter of time before your pup starts to warm up to your boyfriend. While your may be jealous at first to see someone else win over your affection, if your boyfriend continues to be open and warm to your pup, time can pave the way for more progress.
